Richard Quigley visited The Wave Project to see first-hand how the charity is transforming the lives of young people through surf therapy and mental health support.

The Wave Project uses surfing as a tool to build confidence, resilience, and emotional wellbeing among the Island’s children and teenagers facing mental health challenges or social isolation. During his visit, Richard met with staff, volunteers, and young participants to learn more about the impact of the programme and the growing demand for its services.

Speaking after the visit, Richard said:

“The Wave Project is doing extraordinary work to support young people on the Isle of Wight. It’s inspiring to see how surf therapy is helping build confidence and community among those who need it most. I’m committed to supporting initiatives like this that make a real difference in young lives.”

The visit comes as part of Richard’s ongoing efforts to champion youth mental health and improve access to early intervention services across the island.
