Richard Quigley, MP for Isle of Wight West, has successfully completed a Firewalk challenge to raise vital funds for the Island Animal Centre, a lifeline for animals in need across the Island. The event, organised by the RSPCA Isle of Wight, aimed to put a spotlight the ongoing work of the centre and the urgent need for public support.
The Island Animal Centre provides shelter, care, and rehoming services for hundreds of animals each year, including dogs like Kylo, who are patiently waiting for their forever homes. The Firewalk challenge saw Richard join other participants in walk barefoot across a path of burning embers, all in the name of animal welfare.
Richard said:
“The Island Animal Centre plays a vital role in protecting and rehoming animals in our community. Taking part is my way of showing support for the incredible staff and volunteers who work tirelessly every day to help animals in need. Plus, it’s a great excuse to do something completely mad for a very good cause!”
Veronica Chrisp, spokesperson for RSPCA Isle of Wight, added:
“We’re thrilled that Richard joined our Firewalk. His support helps shine a light on the challenges our centre faces and the animals who rely on us.”
The funds raised will go directly towards veterinary care, food, and shelter for the animals, as well as supporting the dedicated team who work around the clock to give every animal a second chance.
