Richard looks forward to working with cross-party colleagues and the charity young lives vs cancer to improve outcomes for young cancer sufferers and their families.

Richard Quigley MP has been elected Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Cancer in Children and Young People.

Speaking after his appointment Richard said:

“I’m incredibly honoured to have been elected Chair of this important APPG. Childhood cancer is a devastating diagnosis that affects thousands of families every year. As Chair, I’m committed to ensuring that the voices of children and young people with cancer, and their families, are heard loud and clear in Westminster.”

APPGs are informal cross-party groups that bring together MPs and peers with a shared interest in a particular issue. While they do not hold formal legislative power, they play a vital role in raising awareness, influencing policy, and holding Ministers to account.

Richard added:

“Too many families across the country know the heartbreak of a child’s cancer diagnosis. It’s a journey no parent should have to face, and yet thousands do. In Parliament, it’s our responsibility to ensure their experiences are understood and that government responds with urgency and compassion.”

The APPG will be supported by Young Lives vs Cancer, who will act as its secretariat. The charity provides vital support to families navigating the challenges of childhood cancer.

The Charity, Young Lives vs Cancer said:

‘We look forward to working with expert partners in the sector, alongside children and young people with cancer and their families’.
