Applications open for Richard Quigley’s Isle of Wight West Summer Skills Bootcamp.
Richard Quigley MP is pleased to announce the launch of his new week-long Summer Skills Bootcamp, taking place 27- 31 July 2026. This unique experience offers young people aged 18–25, who live in Isle of Wight West, the opportunity to develop practical skills and learn how they can make a difference in our community.
No prior political interest or experience is required. The programme has been designed to build attendees confidence, develop transferable practical skills, and introduce participants to professional working practices in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Participants will get to see the varied work of a constituency MP’s office, including the variety of casework, community engagement, and campaigns Richard and his Isle of Wight West team are working on. The packed week will also include the opportunity to hear from people, business and community leaders who are all working together to make the Island a great place to live, work and learn.
Richard Quigley MP said:
“Everyone on the island knows that opportunities to work and learn can feel even more out of reach for our young people because of our geography.
“Since being elected almost two years ago, I’ve been absolutely determined not only to champion the island on a national platform, but also to use my office to create opportunities for young people that they might not otherwise have access to.
“I’m really looking forward to reading the applications we receive, and meeting this year’s attendees for what I hope will be the first of many Summer Skills Bootcamps”
Richard has established the initiative to help address the rising number of young people on the Isle of Wight who are not in education, employment or training (NEET). He is particularly keen to hear from applicants with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), or those from other underrepresented backgrounds.
There is no cost to the Summer Skills Bootcamp, but attendees will need to bring packed lunch and cover the cost of travel to and from the constituency office. If you would like to participate but cannot afford to due to financial constraints, please email richard.quigley.mp@parliament.uk to discuss what support may be available.
To apply, please complete the application form.
Alternatively, to request a printed copy of the application form please email richard.quigley.mp@parliament.uk.
Applications close 18:00 31 May 2026.
